Khristina Ots is an internationally recognized curator with extensive experience in both independent and institutional projects. Her curatorial practice spans diverse settings, from major galleries and museums to collaborative research labs and experimental spaces, where she has successfully launched projects that blend creative vision with scientific and technological inquiry. Khristina’s projects often bridge geographical and disciplinary boundaries, engaging audiences in new ways of thinking about art, science, & technology.

In her research, Khristina delves into themes such as the post-digital condition, posthumanism, and more-than-human communication. She explores how art can challenge traditional narratives and reframe the boundaries between human and non-human entities, revealing alternative modes of understanding and interacting with our environment. Her recent focus on non-visual AI and nature-driven technologies reflects her commitment to innovative, nature-conscious practices that push the frontiers of contemporary art.

Khristina is deeply committed to integrating art, science, & technology in her curatorial work, fostering a cross-pollination of ideas that challenges conventional boundaries. She collaborates with scientists, technologists, and artists to create works that question and expand our understanding of organic and inorganic systems. Her exhibitions often explore themes of hybridity, focusing on entities like fungi, viruses, plants, and nature-technological hybrids, encouraging viewers to reconsider the roles of non-human entities in their lives.

In academia, Khristina Ots teaches Curatorial Practices and Methodologies in art & science at ITMO University’s Art & Science Master's program. Since 2020 till 2022 she also taught a Creative Technologies course for BA at ITMO University, as well as developed and led the course Curation of Digital Projects at MA Digital Humanities. Her research focuses on the intersection of art, science, technology, and post-internet art. She is also a published author, contributing interviews and essays on contemporary art. She has also edited several catalogs of contemporary art.

Khristina has been nominated for the Sergey Kuryokhin Prize for Contemporary Art and has won accolades such as the Top 50 and St. Petersburg of the Future awards by Sobaka.ru magazine.

Over the years, Khristina has curated more than 40 exhibitions and public programs, collaborating with prominent institutions such as the State Russian Museum, Tretyakov Gallery, and participating in major international festivals like Ars Electronica, NUR Festival, ReFest, and 101.Festival. She also served as the curator for new media artist contests at Zifergaz Gallery. Khristina has a worldwide experience of working with artists and institutions (France, Finland, UK, USA, Thailand, etc.)

Since 2020, she has led the Curatorial Department at the Art & Science Center at ITMO University.

In 2024, she took on the role of Chief Curator at SPLACES.STUDIO, and she also heads the ASTA Award, the first all-Russian award in the field of Art, Science, & Technology.
