Khristina Ots, chief curator of SPLACES.STUDIO, curated studio’s project NIDUM, which was selected as the winner of the Bolzano Art Weeks open-call. Bolzano Art Weeks is a contemporary art festival in South Tyrol, featuring exhibitions, performances, installations, and multimedia projects across all districts of Bolzano and beyond. The festival, lasting 10 days, showcases works chosen by an interdisciplinary scientific committee.
Under Khristina’s curatorship, the project NIDUM, an interactive, nest-shaped sculpture, was presented at the festival. The sculpture uses a neural network to scan human speech and respond to emotional patterns with a combination of light and sound. The piece features the singing of Karelian birds that is generated in real-time as a response to the environment.
