The interdisciplinary project “Atlas VMayakovsky” presents a performative installation.
“Atlas” is an exhibition, a scientific laboratory, a movie theater, an archive and an art studio. The laboratory is engaged in daily comprehension of neighboring projects exhibited in the “Here and Now!” exhibition. The curators utilize a methodological approach constructed by a group of researchers as part of the “Atlas VMayakovsky” project.
“Atlas” methodology is based on the principle of cultural appropriation — by structuring individual works within the general grid-canvas of the exhibition, it analyzes them, building parallels between different art forms. This allows us to look at modernity through the repetition of History.
Located in the very heart of the Manege, “Atlas” connects all the objects of the exhibition with each other, extends its semantic boundaries beyond the walls of the exhibition hall — into the outside world — and establishes interconnections between the local and the global context of the history of art and culture.
