Beneath Depth, Beyond Surface: In the Screen Space

The exhibition "Beneath Depth, Beyond Surface: In the Screen Space" is the result of a laboratory for video and media artists. The laboratory was held by Radio House in cooperation with the Art & Science Centre of ITMO and consisted of lectures, discussions and readings. After the lab and individual work with the curators, the artists created nine projects reflecting on the nature of the screen and its pliability for experimentation with projections.
The exhibition presented the screen as a plastic object that integrates into dozens of artistic practices, and allowed us to look beyond the boundaries of the concept of the screen as a space for the representation of images.

Realism of the Unseen

The exhibition “Realism of the Unseen” is a showcase of first-year students of the ITMO Art & Science Master's program.
The works presented in the Art & Science Center were created by young artists as part of studios: bioart, biodesign and living materials; robotic and interactive art; digital worlds. The artists were not given a specific theme, but their works were united by a common message — to reveal the hidden.
In total, the exhibition featured more than 20 projects exploring the role of artificial intelligence, corporeality, the possibility of digital immortality, ways of interspecies communication and more.

Evolution

The exhibition was the outcome of the 2023 Zifergauz Gallery Media Artists' Exhibition, with the theme of "Living Matter". Artists were asked to reflect on the relationship between man, nature and technology. Seven finalists were selected after voting, and they presented their projects at the "Evolution" exhibition. Each hall is dedicated to a separate theme, such as the origin of life, processes on Earth and in outer space, the diversity of flora and fauna, and the possible future of our planet.

The exhibition of the Art & Science Center of ITMO University at Yandex Museum opens a new perspective on contemporary art by exploring the interaction between humans and technology. Artists use various technologies, from electronics to neural networks, to show how they change our lives and expand our sensory experience. The art projects present humans existing in both physical and digital dimensions, enriching their experience through interaction with the digital world.
